Facing Darkness
These paintings were made at a dark period in the artist’s life and were triggered by a casual remark from a friend who said; “you are like a man clawing at the bars of a prison cell, why not turn around and look at the darkness” The forms came from exploring underground caverns in disused copper mines in Allihies, West Cork. The exhibition was shown at The Rubicon Gallery, Dublin in 1994.
