Crozier, Pamela Leonard, Sean McSweeney,
Donald Teskey, Yoko Akino, Stephen Lawlor,

‘Revelation’
– a co-production between Graphic Studio Dublin & The
National Gallery of Ireland is open at the Pearse Museum.
An
exhibition of twenty nine specially commissioned prints created
by members of Graphic Studio Dublin and invited artists is hosted
at the Pearse Museum, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, until 31st July 2009.
Admission is free.
The
concept for the exhibition dates back to 2005 when Graphic Studio
Dublin (GSD) approached the National Gallery of Ireland with an
idea for an exhibition of prints on a specific subject matter. In
collaboration with the Gallery, ‘Revelation’ was chosen
as the theme for the show.
Among
the artists featured in the exhibition are: Pamela Leonard, Cliona
Doyle, Brian Lalor, Yoko Akino, Stephen Lawlor, Robert Russell,
Clare Henderson, Tim Goulding, Jean Bardon, Tom Phelan, Lina Nordenstrom,
Terence Gravett, Yoko Hara, Nickie Hayden, Sharon Lee, Maev Leneghan,
Siobhan Hyde, Kelvin Mann, William Crozier HRHA, Guggi, John Kindness,

Donald Teskey RHA, Seán MacSweeney HRHA, Nigel Rolfe and
Marta Wakula-Mac.
Raymond
Keaveney, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland says: “We
are most grateful to all those artists who have contributed to this
collaborative venture exploring the nature of revelation and to
share with us their insights on this most mysterious and profound
concept. This exhibition provides a wonderful vehicle for managing
a dialogue between the National Gallery’s collection and contemporary
art practice.”
The
Pearse Museum is housed in Patrick Pearse’s former home, where
he also ran his school, Scoil Eanna. Visitors can see the rooms
where Pearse lived and worked. A dedicated exhibition to his brother,
the artist, William Pearse is also on display.
It
is fitting that an exhibition of work produced at Graphic Studio
Dublin, a collective of artists sharing ideas, skills and facilities,
and run on a non-profit basis, should be housed in the home that
was a centre for nurturing creativity through the school system.
Graphic Studio Dublin is supported by the Arts Council.
